Kent State Folk Festival

There is still time to see and hear the Kent State Folk Festival through November 17.  Can't make it?  Check out our video from Episode Six featuring WKSU's Bob Burford and Folk Alley 'Round Town musician Ryan Humbert.  The Ryan Humbert Band will be performing at Ray's Place, along with many other artists at local venues such as Riverside Wine & Imports, Susan's Coffee and Tea, and Water Street Tavern on Friday, November 16.

What's Shakin' in the Square

Shaker Square was built in the late 1920s as the neighboring city of Shaker Heights developed. It's the oldest shopping district in Ohio and the second-oldest in the nation; in 1976 the square was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

For all its historical significance and American Colonial charm, the Square has sometimes suffered from a bit of an identity crisis. Once intended as a shopping destination for well-heeled suburbanites, the Square now offers two distinct identities: a busy hub of shops and services during the day, and a nighttime entertainment district known for distinctive restaurants. In short, the Square is what the surrounding community needs it to be.
