On yesterday's episode of Live From the Circle, we met the Seikels, an active couple who are moving into Judson Manor in University Circle. The Seikels chose their new home much the way anyone else would: it's close to things they like to do, gives them access to the city and enriches their lives.
This historic neighborhood is going through an amazing change as it adds more residency options and becomes more liveable for families, older adults and young professionals. Already known as a student enclave due to its proximity to Case Western Reserve University (approximately 35% of the Circle's residents are between the ages of 20-29), the area is also a destination for people traveling for business or pleasure.
Over the next several years, University Circle Incorporated plans to help build about 1,000 new homes in the area, helping to make the neighborhood a "premier urban destination." The Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland will also relocate to the corner of Euclid Avenue and Mayfield Road, bringing another important instution and public gathering place to one of the City's most important neighborhoods.
What else does the Circle need to attract residents and visitors? More restuarants? Shopping? Signage and improved public spaces? If you frequent the Circle, what would you most like to see happen in the next five years?
